Quality Policy of the University of Thessaly for Distance Learning Postgraduate Programs

Quality Policy Statement

The University of Thessaly (UTH) implements a unified, institutionally established Quality Assurance Policy for Postgraduate Study Programs (PSPs) offered through distance learning and/or blended learning methods, in accordance with:

  • the applicable national legislative framework,

  • the Principles and Guidelines of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE),

  • the European Standards and Guidelines (ESG),

  • the approved Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) of the Institution.

The Quality Policy derives from the Strategic Plan 2024–2027 of the University of Thessaly, is applied throughout the entire lifecycle of distance learning PSPs (design, implementation, evaluation, and review), and reflects the Institution’s commitment to a responsible quality policy that enhances its academic identity and social mission at both national and international levels.

Fundamental Principles

The University of Thessaly is committed to ensuring that distance learning PSPs:

  • are designed based on clearly defined and assessable learning outcomes,

  • ensure academic equivalence with corresponding on-campus programs,

  • apply pedagogically appropriate and evidence-based distance teaching methods,

  • guarantee academic integrity, transparency, and meritocracy,

  • support inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

The quality of distance learning PSPs is ensured through:

  • systematic internal evaluation of courses, teaching staff, and infrastructure,

  • collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative indicators,

  • utilization of feedback from students, alumni, and external stakeholders,

  • continuous updating of the Internal Regulations for Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies where required,

  • ongoing evaluation of all study programs of the Institution,

  • implementation of new quality processes where necessary (design and implementation of new internal evaluation procedures and quality assurance strategies).

The process follows the continuous improvement cycle (planning – implementation – monitoring – review) and is coordinated by the Quality Assurance Unit (MODIP).

Infrastructure and Support

The Institution ensures:

  • reliable digital distance learning platforms,

  • technical and pedagogical support for teaching staff and students,

  • continuous training of personnel in distance education,

  • protection of personal data and information security.

Publication and Transparency

The Quality Policy for distance and/or blended learning Postgraduate Study Programs is publicly available and accessible to all members of the academic community and the wider public, enhancing accountability and transparency.
