Tuition & Scholarships

HERO-HEALTH is committed to providing clear and transparent information on tuition fees, payment arrangements and the financial support opportunities available to eligible students.

The Programme provides for tuition fee waivers based on the applicable financial, social and academic criteria, as well as a merit scholarship linked to outstanding academic performance and research achievement.

The total tuition fees for participation in the Joint Master’s Programme in Humanitarian Action and Inclusive Management of Public and One Health Challenges (HERO-HEALTH) are €58,964.87 for the entire duration of the Programme.

Tuition fees are paid through the Special Account for Research Funds (ELKE) of the University of Thessaly in three equal instalments, with one instalment payable at the beginning of each academic semester.

The Programme may permit payment in more than three instalments following a reasoned request by the student and approval by the competent Programme body.

Tuition fee revenue supports the educational and operational needs of HERO-HEALTH, including teaching and academic support, digital and educational infrastructure, simulation-based education, research activities and the Programme’s international academic collaboration.

In accordance with the current Internal Regulation and applicable legislation, enrolled HERO-HEALTH students may be eligible for exemption from tuition fees if they meet the prescribed:

• financial or social criteria, and
• academic excellence requirements relating to their first-cycle studies.

The tuition fee waiver is available exclusively for attendance in one Master’s Programme organised by a Greek Higher Education Institution.

Under the current HERO-HEALTH Internal Regulation:

• the total number of students receiving a tuition fee waiver may not exceed 30% of the total number of enrolled students per academic year;
• applications for a fee waiver are submitted after completion of the admission process, within a period determined by the Programme;
• students already receiving a scholarship from another source are not eligible for the tuition fee waiver;
• citizens of countries outside the European Union are not eligible for the tuition fee waiver under the current Regulation;
• applications are examined by the competent Programme body and a reasoned decision is issued approving or rejecting each application.

Important!
Eligibility for a tuition fee waiver is determined in accordance with the legislation and regulations in force at the time of application. Detailed instructions, deadlines and supporting-document requirements will be announced by HERO-HEALTH for each admission cycle.

HERO-HEALTH provides a merit scholarship of €2,000 to recognise exceptional academic and research achievement.

Under the current Internal Regulation, the scholarship may be awarded to a graduate who meets all of the following requirements:

• achieves a final Master’s Degree grade of 8.50/10 or higher;
• has published the Master’s dissertation, or part of it, in an internationally recognised scientific journal relevant to the academic scope of HERO-HEALTH;
• the journal is indexed in PubMed;
• the journal has an Impact Factor of at least 2.5 (IF ≥ 2.5).

Scholarship Restrictions

The merit scholarship is not awarded where the graduate:

• already receives a scholarship from another source; or
• attended HERO-HEALTH without an obligation to pay tuition fees through a tuition fee exemption.
