Biography

Dr. Ioannis Moisoglou is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Nursing, University of Thessaly, with the academic field of “Mental Health and Nursing Care”. He holds a degree in Nursing from the Department of Nursing of the Technological Educational Institute of Central Greece, a Master’s degree in Health Services Management from the National School of Public Health, and a PhD from the Department of Nursing of the University of the Peloponnese.

His doctoral dissertation focused on the measurement of nursing staffing in hospitals and the investigation of its impact on the quality of care provided. He is also conducting postdoctoral research at the Department of Nursing of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, under the supervision of Associate Professor Petros Galanis. His postdoctoral research focuses on the knowledge, experiences and attitudes of Emergency Department nurses regarding human trafficking, as well as the evaluation of an educational intervention.

Dr. Moisoglou has 26 years of professional experience as a nurse in several clinical departments, including Oncology, Artificial Kidney Unit, Pulmonology, Neurosurgery, ENT, Urology and Operating Room departments. He also served for three years as Deputy Head of the Quality and Continuing Education Department at the General Hospital of Lamia. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he served as the responsible nurse of the COVID-19 Department of the General Hospital of Lamia.

His research activity includes participation as a member of scientific teams in Greek and European projects. His scientific writing includes more than 100 publications in international and Greek journals. His scientific and research interests focus on the mental health of patients and healthcare professionals, with particular emphasis on nursing staff, as well as on the organization and operation of health services, quality of care and patient safety.
