Biography

Dr. Ourania Kotsiou is an Associate Professor of Pathological Physiology–Pulmonology at the Department of Nursing, University of Thessaly, and Director of the Human Pathophysiology Laboratory. She is a Pulmonologist with a PhD, completed in 2018, focusing on the study of alarmins in pleural effusions.

She coordinates outpatient clinics for asthma and bronchiectasis at the University General Hospital of Larissa. She has received research awards from the Hellenic Thoracic Society, research funding exceeding €100,000, and an Editorial Contribution Award from Scientific Reports in 2025.

Her work focuses on biomarkers and targeted therapies for asthma and COPD, with more than 150 conference presentations and scientific publications.
